Can I make a booking for over 8 people?

Yes, of course you can, and it doesn't need to be private. Simply fill out the enquiry form or send us an email with your date, time, and number of guests. For bookings over 8 people, we require a pre-order if you're having food, and larger bookings may need to order from our buffet menu.

What areas of Mara can be privately hired?

We offer flexible private hire options: Back Bar – Our most popular space, featuring a private bar, microphone, AV system, and screen. Front Bar – Ideal for smaller, informal gatherings near the main bar. Venue Takeover – Includes both bar areas, subject to availability and a displacement fee. Note: Our beer garden cannot be reserved.

How many guests can Mara accommodate?

Accepted Answer

Back Bar: Up to 40 seated, 80 standing. Front Bar: Up to 20 seated, 50 standing. Full Venue: Up to 60 seated, 130 standing. We also offer private bookings with additional tables for overflow guests.

When can I host an event at Mara?

Events can start from 11am daily and run until closing. For larger private bookings, we can extend closing time to 1am. Food service is available between 11am – 9pm.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made at least 5 working days in advance. You may lose your deposit if you cancel, though we are happy to reschedule subject to availability.

How far in advance can I book a private event?

We accept private event bookings up to 6 months in advance. You may enquire earlier, and we can place a provisional hold, but confirmation will only be possible within 6 months.

Do you offer any tech for events?

Yes! We provide a microphone, AV system, and screen connectivity. Let us know ahead of time what you need, and we’ll ensure everything is set up before your event.

Can under-18s visit Mara for an event?

Accepted Answer

Yes, under-18s can attend when accompanied by an adult and must leave by 8pm. If you prefer a child-free event, we can enforce this within your private booking.

Can guests bring dogs to an event?

Yes, Mara is a dog-friendly venue! However, for large events, we advise guests to consider their dog’s comfort in a busy environment.

What food packages are available?

We offer canapés and buffet menus up to £20pp. Dietary needs including veggie, vegan, gluten-free, and allergies can be catered for—just let us know ahead of time. The kitchen closes at 9pm, and larger events require pre-ordered buffet menus.

Yes! We offer Wine & Beer packages, Tea & Coffee packages, and Arrival Drinks including Prosecco, beer, or soft drinks.

Yes! If you book a private event with us, you’ll receive 15% off your next visit. This must be used within 6 months and cannot be combined with other offers.

Unfortunately, Mara currently has no disabled access or toilet facilities. We are working on improving accessibility in the future.
